How I use Twitter is that I keep Twitterific open on my desktop. When I've been away, or ignoring it, I go out to my Twitter page, back up X number of pages until I'm at the last post I saw, and read forward to catch up.

So far, I haven't figured out a way to do similar with Jaiku -- the "Home" page won't let you back up in the timeline.

I've dumped the RSS feed to my feed reader, but that's a poor solution -- it's slow to update, and loses the immediacy of the interface.

I expect we'll see good desktop clients soon, but the history problem needs to get solved too..

Is using comments to post more than 140 characters cheating in this medium? :-)

No, but you had us on the edge of our seats until you finished your thought! :P

If you click 'contacts' up the top it lets you go back pages..it really needs to put that in the overview page.

Now that we have an API writing something like Twitterific would be simple. In fact, I wonder if we could get the Icon Factory guys to port Twitterific over? If I had the source code I could probably do it in a few minutes - the APIs are very similar.

Long comments are the fun of Jaiku - we just need a way to collapse comments so you can choose between a Twitter-like experience or a richer Jaiku soup.

lol -- yeah, I figured out that posting a comment was a way to blather longer, but I hadn't quite figured out yet that I should write the whole thing beforehand and then cut 'n paste it in...

Basically, I need MarsEdit Jaiku Edition...

Y83ross -- Excellent! That's what I was missing... I guess I just assumed that that was another link to Manage Comments, and never went there....

Apparently boneheads like me do need it on the Overview page :-)

right now a few things bug me about jaiku, (but i'm still here): no IM interfaces, the website doesn't work on blackberry or sidekick phones, international text messaging costs for mobile phones, and no control over notifications other than a simple on/off. all things twitter does much better. I do like the RSS feed ability a lot, though, even though it seems very lagged.

Dan -- yep, all of that... Plus we could use a Windows Smartphone client, too, as long as we're adding to the wishlist.

And for the love of God, let's lose that S60 ad on the Overview page before my gadget addiction forces me to go buy an N95...

Jaiku is new and isn't used to the strict demands of the everyday person ... let them have some time to adjust and maybe it will get better ...
